About the classes

Boxing Fitness Classes

These classes are non-contact sessions that will suit everyone from beginners to the more experienced. You’ll be skipping, running, jumping and punching your way through set drills that include partner work with pads, bag punching and much more. We’ll keep an eye on your technique to make sure you get a full body workout that will burn fat, boost your metabolism and get you fit. You don’t need to be super fit to start but regular sessions will get you there.

Fighters Class

The MBC coaching team runs these sessions for people who want to spar and compete in amateur, or Olympic style, boxing. These classes will include technique, partner drills, condition sparring, agility, balance and footwork drills as well as open, competition sparring with other gyms when appropriate. Both a mouthguard and basic boxing technique are required. You will need to be able to demonstrate a competent level defence and footwork skills. Coaches may decide that you are not ready and have the right to deny class participation for your own safety and that of others.

Strength & Conditioning

This class is suitable for all levels and the exercises are designed to strengthen and enhance your boxing movement patterns, from punching power to muscle endurance. Whether you do the fitness or fighters class these sessions will feed into the journey you are on and improve your capabilities and enjoyment of boxing.

Junior Boxing

Four nights a week we offer session to kids aged 10-14 years. These classes combine skills development with fitness and conditioning games in a supportive environment. Classes run for 45 minutes and we provide gloves.

Beginner Boxing Technique

These sessions are an introduction to boxing stance and the mechanics of punching. We’ll keep it nice and simple. You’ll learn some combinations and get comfortable holding pads for each other. We take it slow and steady so it’s not too overwhelming. After a few of these sessions you should be ready to jump into the Boxing Fitness Class.

Boxing Fitness for Beginners

Just like the regular Boxing Fitness Class but scaled down a little. You’ll still get a workout, but the combinations will be simpler and you’ll get some extra coaching with your technique. We’ll push you a little out of your comfort zone but not too far.

Open Training

Open training for members and clients to use the gym at any time for self-directed training. Suitable for those who are preparing for competition, or who have been attending the sparring classes for a while.
